Expo.02: Arteplage Murten

Deutsche Version

Donny and Roman at the Expo.02

Special Greetings from Murten (~230kb): MPG Video
One main entrance for all exhibitions in "The Murten Arteplage" does not exist. What they "installed" in this small little town are separation concept, having exhibitions all over, so that visitors can visit the town and visit the exhibition at the same time. This is a very unique atmosphere, it feels as if the town is slowly being "Assimilation" like from the science-fiction story, Star Trek ( Borg- Cube). Of course, it blends very well with the sybolic feature of a metal cube on the lake. A very different feeling comparing to the other arteplages.

One see not much of the kultur "infection" from the main street of the town. It is actually still very early on a Sunday morning. Without the overwealming visitors for the Expo, the town is basically so quiet all the time.

Quietly and unable to grasp, the sybolic feature of Murten, The Cube.

"Resistance is Futile" wordings from Star Trek - Borg

Just like in Star Trek, one is being Assimilated in the cube. Poor Roman!

While the Swiss Panorama v2.1 at the entrance of the Cube is rather lame, the painted Panorama of War in Murten is rather impressive.

After visiting the Cube`s exhibitions, we have to play around with our knowledge of the BORG and make some "Science-Fiction" (on an escalator) pictures. Looks as if we were moving at WAP 3, No? :-)

Universi Sensibili

Along the coast of the lake are two hugh piles of rocks and sand with several air pile openings, looks rather weird from the outside. Once inside, one will find that the exhibition made used of old wooden wardrobes. Every one of the wardrobes are painted with a different theme, to fully experience the theme, one have to stand in the wardrobe and close the door behind. Its like another small world of its own.
Luckily the one with "Yeti" (a legendary mountain beast) is locked!

The Churches and Religion Representatives at the Expo.02

I would like to let the pictures to the talking. It is enough to say that these little house managed to get Roman and I into a huge discussion without conclusion. As a free-thinker for Roman, this exhibition also managed to get him to think, its really something, don`t you think?

The four picture belows reads: Salt, Earth/Soil, World, Light.... Get one thinking, No?

These little metal houses - Looks so uniform from the outside but so different from the inside - Indeed a mixed controversial feeling for us. Some parts are very well done to bring out the topic but some parts without guidance from the leaflets is not understandable.

Violence in the Garden

Probably the violence is in this hole?

The garden is beautifully done up, perhaps too nice?
Those who did not managed to see "violence" in the garden, will probably also not see in real life...
From our guess, it is trying to bring out the point that danger is everywhere, one need to be careful and not be overwhelm by the outer beauty of things...

Swiss Military at the Expo.02

Thank you so much for this free trip. Somehow brings back BAD memories of my own military... All these "Wayang" (Malay word for fake front) stuff, just to "show off" they are good, but most of the time... Not really... :-p

The Shipyard

This exhibition is showcased through for combined effort from (EDA, EJPD, EVD und VBS). Convicing the visitors through humour and direct facts, for example, Swiss famous bank practice and its linkage with "Money Laundry".

The end of this exhibition has no barrier at all, leading directly to the lake. Sort of symbolising the freedom in exposing themselves to globalisation risks.

Although they are many bad critics about Murten Arteplage, this beautiful picture with the CUBE will always be in my mind...
